Its The Dog Days of Summer, Bring on the Deals

While you North easterners are enjoying unseasonably cool weather, the dog days are upon us here in the South. Last minute airfares that are on the low side are now officially hard to come by but there are great fares out there for September and October. Really, you can do well right now if you book at least 21 days in advance and fly on a Monday or Tuesday.

Perhaps a good old fashioned road trip is calling you. Personally I want to hop in the car and head to the Rockies. Surely it is cooler there than here. Priceline will be a great help in keeping costs low as we can make an offer on our rental car (a good friend of mine who is a CPA pointed out that she always rents for a road trip because if anything goes wrong, the rental company replaces the vehicle and she does not put the mileage on her own). We can also Priceline our accommodations as needed. Part of the trip will involve a couple of nights with relatives, part will be in hotel/motel accommodations and another part will be at Y Of The Rockies. OH Shoot! I have just given away a great secret...hope you guys don't snap up all the lodge rooms, cabins or houses before we get to it. My sister spent years taking her kids there as they were growing up and loved it. Hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding day camp activities for kids...it is all in the mix. You can eat all meals there or opt to head into town and dine. If you have one of the cabins or houses of course you can cook. This is the type of vacation that can be controlled cost wise and in the type of experience you wish to enjoy.
I hope I have gotten your noggin joggin with ideas for the rest of your summer or perhaps your early fall. And now for this weeks best promos and deals:

And In the End
If it is too hot where you are consider a happy hour and movie break with friends to break up the week. You can go retro with Johnny Depp right now or see a train hijack redo with John and Denzel. Kid friendly choices are out there as well. For me, as it is Bastille Day today, I am off to enjoy some French wine and food with a good longtime friend. Remember, life is a journey, stay packed. Bonne journee!
