Dreaming of Travel
I had the dream again. I was at a beautiful beach with one of my sons. There was a gentleman on the rocks painting portraits and I wanted to buy the one of my son and a dog. I knew in my mind that he probably painted this same portrait hundreds of times simply altering the details so that tourists would buy them, but I didn’t care. As my son headed back in from snorkeling the coral just off shore he realized that he had left our video camera out on a little rock ledge. I insisted he go back out after it and just as he got to the ledge a huge tsunami wave was about to hit. (I told you it was a dream).
I awoke and checked the time...still not quite time to get up so I let myself sleep in a bit (if you call 7:00 sleeping in) this morning because I was traveling in my dream. Well, I must have been traveling because it sure isn't like that where we live. I closed my eyes again...
European Village, Roquebrun
I could not get back to the point in my dream where the wave was hitting, but I did find myself in a town searching for the gallery listed on the card of the artist so I could buy the painting. The village consisted of narrow winding cobblestone streets lined with little stucco buildings all with flower boxes and potted plants and painted wooden doors. It reminded me of any number of European old world places, but most especially a town called Roquebrun that is perched high above Monaco over looking the Mediterranean Sea. In a display window at street level was the portrait of my son. I had to have it. . I headed up the steep stone steps of one of the buildings to the address on the card. The door opened as I gently knocked. I timidly called out, " Hello, Bonjour," still no answer. It appeared to be a whimsical antique and art gallery. I could, however, not find the proprietor and now it seemed the portrait was missing as well. Of course we all know what happened next, you guessed it, I woke up. Ah maybe I will have the dream again soon if I concentrate really hard and I can find out where we are, why the proprietor disappeared with the portrait and which son it actually is.
European Vacation
For those that look for meaning in dreams I would love to hear your theories. As for me, I believe this is a manifestation of the fact that my boys ( I could not tell which one it was when I replayed the dream in my head again) are growing up and away from me. Soon enough they will have families of their own. Our time together will be more and more limited so I think I better look into airfare to Europe, most specifically Paris, France. Leasing a pied a terre (for the language impaired, an apartment...check out homeaway) for a bit there, taking the TGV (it’s a fast train ya’ll) down to the south, renting a car and visiting the Mediterranean with my family. Perhaps a deal on Priceline or Travelocity can be found. Maybe we'll go this summer in June or July depends on how well this website does lol.

And In The End
Even if you are dreaming of travel, half of the fun is in the planning. Sometimes those dreams can lead to a last minute trip as well. Let your hearts and minds be open, dear traveling ones, to the beauty that surrounds you each and every day and always be on a quest to find and recognize it. Remember, Life is a journey, stay packed. Ciao for now, Maggie
