They are still picking up the pieces in South Padre thanks to Hurricane Dolly. 90% of the power was back on by Wednesday and they expect to have the rest restored by today. If you have reservations to head down tho, it is best to call and confirm that your lodging location did not sustain any damage from Dolly and if you haven't made any yet you may just get lucky. The beaches evidently look great, but the majority of the damage was on the bay side and causeway areas.
Port Aransas is open for business according to the Chamber of Commerce as they did not sustain any damage from Dolly. Looks like I am going to take the munchkin on another working vacation to Austin and P.A. This time I will probably take a couple of real days off however. The munchkin will bring a friend and we are staying with Sister Soul Jah, her aunt so it is a girl powered week...no boys allowed lol. I will let you know how it goes.

Looks like they all want our business and are offering incredible deals. I am looking at a long weekend cruise at the end of October with my awesome spouse. Of course let us not forget the annual pilgrimage to Austin City Limits Music Festival at the end of September.
