I am going to lay off bitching at Airlines today and give you a good reason to come to Texas ya'll. Like you needed a good reason to visit Texas in the September heat (ok it does get really hot but this year the festival is closer to the end of September and maybe it will be a lil cooler)Austin City Limits Music Festival has announced its line-up for this year's show and I am excited. The Foo Fighters, Beck, Robert Plant and Allison Krouse, (maybe a Led Zeppelin reunion????????), David Byrne, Gnarls Barkley are among the many bands and performers this year. Also a world music personal favorite,Manu Chao.
Mark your calendar for September 26-28 and get your tickets now for all 3 days because they sell out quickly. The cheapest ones already have and now they are up to $170 for a three day pass.No promo codes or discounts are available at this time. Also as far as hotels and other accommodations you really fare best by booking well in advance if you want a specific location like the Hyatt which is walkable to the fest. Of course you can take your chances and Priceline like I did last year but I was way out on I-35 at 90 a night for the Radisson and happy to get it. It is much more fun to be where the action is on Barton Springs and Congress at night if you have any energy left from your all day festival attending. The beauty of being close is you can take a break, cool off and go back. I will say it helps to have a friend or relative that lives right by Zilker :)
You will find bands you never heard of before and fall in love, you will hear old faves, you will make new friends in the Heineken grove (shout out) and you will hear soooo much great music and hang with mellow folk from all over.

I love me my ACL Festival even if I do run into the first Mr Ex. It is the best musical bang for your buck out there. Yeah, Coachella has Prince next weekend ya'll, but you never know who might jump on board the ACL train at the last minute. Ok, sometimes they jump off too, but maybe Rodrigo y Gabriella and the White Stripes will show this year. In the meantime, take a quick trip and treat your mom.
