Good Day Traveling Friends, and it is a good one filled with hope for the future. I took the opportunity to enlighten and educate my about to be 18 year old son yesterday by taking him to see Barack Obama speak at a rally for his campaign in Dallas. What an experience! Just when we were sure we would not get in, fate intervened and we did. I am certain that it will be a moment in time my son will not forget. Electricity was in the air and what a joy to see people from all facets of life (an over flow crowd of 17,000), coming together to try to facilitate change or at the very least hear what this candidate had to say. Whether my son chooses to vote in November for Obama, I cannot say. What I do know, is that he is now fully engaged in his future, one which he has the ultimate power to affect by his actions and by Voting! It was quality time well spent with my soon to college bound young man.
Open Mind, Positive Outlook
Speaking of Quality time, vacationing as a family, with your spouse, significant other or best friends can create such bonds and of course memories that will always be with you. Sharing serendipidous moments like ours yesterday or like the one I had when traveling in London a few years back have such power to enlighten and enliven our lives. I had no idea at the time that in order to tour Buckingham palace you had to have purchased tickets well in advance (well duh, but I was not as seasoned a traveler then my loves. ) So my travel companion and I set out walking, as we were staying in the Mayfair area and soon found that no tickets were available. As I began to give up, we found that two people who had reserved tickets had extras and we were in...fate intervened. We got to see Buckhouse up close and personal and I will never forget it!
The moral here is that you never know what is going to happen when you get up each day, but you can resolve to keep an open mind and positive outlook, whether traveling through each day with loved ones, getting to hear the future President of the United States speak in person, or taking the trip of a lifetime.
