Hurricane Dolly
I was quite tempted this morning to jump on a flight down to Corpus and head to Port Aransas where my sister in law and her mother have decided to ride out Hurricane Dolly but my daughter's swimteam banquet is this evening and I would never hear the end of it. This morning Sister Soul Jah could not resist having her photo taken with the weather channel guy Jim Cantore but said she stopped short of inviting him to hang out later because he seemed very into himself and also has a nasty eye infection. I will keep you posted with Dolly updates from the girls as I get them. The pics above are from my best sis this afternoon.
Working Vacation
As the Texas Coast gets ready to sing Hello Dolly I have just decompressed from a working vacation to the Central Texas. My husband travels four days a week as a network wireless engineer for a major Hotel chain so we took advantage of his assignment in San Marcos, Texas last week to drive down and stay with him. My 10 year old daughter waited patiently each day for me to do my morning voice over/news work and then we headed out tubing on the San Marcos River, shopping and tubing a little more as well as a tiny bit of history at the now Texas State University owned Aquarena Springs. I must admit I was bummed out that there was no more diving pig or underwater mermaid drinking coke show, but evidently that all disappeared when Shamu took up residence in San Antonio. A quick jaunt to the Gristmill in Gruene completed the San Marcos experience.
We headed to Austin on my birthday, Friday and the Doctress, my brother and Sister Soul Jah along with Parker and Carly made quite a fun party with cake and all. We had a great appetizer dinner at Zax and then headed over to Antones (without the daughter) to catch Vallejo.
Saturday a two hour sunning and swimming trip to Barton Springs made us all feel much better before hitting the road back to the North Texas Metroplex. At least it can now be said that I took the child on a vacation of sorts this summer. Other opportunities are sure to arise between now and the start of school to do some travelin on the cheap, but at least I dipped my toes in some cold running river water.

And In the End
I must be off to ready the child and myself for the Swimming Banquet. We are very excited about he giant slip and slide and blow up water slide not to mention pictures, video and awards.
