Howdy Folks From the State Fair of Texas

Howdy Folks!
It is time for the great State Fair of Texas. The Fair opens on the 28th and runs through October 21st. The State Fair of Texas is the only fair I know of to have a giant talking doll as its mascot. If you grew up, like I did in DFW, Big Tex would seem normal. Every year we all say to someone we will meet them at Big Tex and we mean it ya'll. In the past I have always made it a point to go to the fair several times...I am a self professed State Fair of Texas fiend.
Oasis Fire at the Fair
This year, I have the great fortune of helping some friends sell their incredible outdoor living line of furniture and accessories called Oasis Fire. (see previous posts as well). Their custom designed fire pit tables are the best I have seen. The workmanship and quality of their furniture is beyond reproach and the integrity of the owner operators of the business makes you want to do business with them and tell all your friends to do so as well. We will be displaying in the Embarcadero Building (in the corner closest to the restaurant Docks) for the run of the fair. Oasis fire tables and chairs are also an integral part of Weisz Selection lawn and landscape's booth as well located just around the corner from Big Tex and across the street from The Old Mill Inn.

Be sure to look for Oasis Fire tables in the Texas Wine Garden too!! If you can't come to Texas for the fair you can find more detailed info about the furniture line by clicking here.
Fairs and Festivals
I Love this time of year for travel and enjoying not only the world at large, but the world right in my own backyard. The weather is fairly mild and in some places starting to even crisp up a bit. The leaves are changing in the Northeast and that trend is slowly make its way Southwest. At home we spend more time in our outdoor spaces as do our friends and we hope they appoint them with Scott and Sara's beautiful Oasis Fire line, but we are prejudice and we want a parking pass to go with our vendor pass lol....but I digress.
I will be blogging from the fair for the next several weeks and hope you will add your two cents too. I will continue to post deals as I find them on travel, because, well, I can't help myself...it is my obsessive hobby. For example...

Here is another tip, Skybus the low fare carrier has added Chattanooga, Gulfport/Biloxi, Milwaukee, and Punta Gorda a city near Ft. Myers Florida to the list of cities it serves. The airline is based out of Columbus, OH, and its destinations include Burbank, Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, Richmond, and Portsmouth. Fares start at $10 one-way ,yes you read that correctly, but those deals sell out quickly so you really have to be on your toes. If you are into playing with schedules you can make this work for you. Keep your eyes peeled for Spirit Air's penny sales...again they sell out quickly and I will let you know if one is imminent dear travelers. If you are lucky enough to live in a state served by these two airlines kudos to you, if not you can link up via Southwest or Airtran and come out pretty well on your travel dollars dears!!

As noted below, travelocity searches alternate airports and dates domestically for low fares as well.

Oh, by the way the advertiser above has house sitters and dog sitters as well as baby sitters and even elder companions as well! I think I will probably use them to watch the animals and the house while we are all away.
