Keep Your Cool This Summer With Alaska and Beyond Travel Deals

Alaska and Beyond Sale: Summer Adventures from $39 Each Way! > Expires 6/28/09

This looks very appealing to me right now as most of the nation's midsection is in a triple digit heat wave. I love Alaska for otter watching, fishing and hiking. Homer, Alaska is a hippie and halibut fishing haven where anyone can camp on the Spit that extends into Kachemak Bay. Of course as of this writing it was 50 degrees and cloudy with a chance of rain, but that sounds great when faced with two more months of 100 degree days here in Texas ya'll.
When I went fishing in Homer some years back it was with my father in law who sounds like Foghorn Leghorn ,my mother in law the ice queen and my now ex husband. Fishing for halibut is like pulling up a table from 300 feet below the surface of the water. But, I will say I had Halibut for a good long time after that trip and the otters were the cutest ever. Make sure if you go to request black out curtains in your accommodations because it is light most of the time in the summer.
Cool Movies
If you can't afford the trip to Alaska then take a trip to the movies at the very least this week to beat the heat. The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, and Betty White among others is a cute chick flick/date movie that takes place in Alaska and New York City. I believe they actually substituted Maine for Alaska though. No heavy plot here just some good laughs and hopefully an ice cold theater. Up is another good escape and yes a cartoon about an old person that made me cry.

And now, on with this weeks best deals...

And In The End
Graduations, weddings and reunions are in high gear. And lets not forget that Father's Day is June 21. Dad probably needs a trip. My family and I are even taking a mini vacation to be with extended family at the wedding of my nephew next week. It is just far enough from home that a hotel stay is required and we are going to play tourist in Fort Worth, Texas by going the Stock Yards, Joe T Garcia's and the excellent Museums and galleries when festivities are on break. As always loves I am on the look out for great deals and will post as they appear. Remember, life is a journey, stay packed. Ciao for now, Maggie
